The Philosophy

Our principles are rooted in a regenerative and sustainable approach to agriculture. We
believe that nature cares best for itself and see ourselves as the temporary guardians of
the land and trees that have been here long before us and will surely outlive us. Our method of caring for and farming the olives is based on organic principles. We do not make use of any chemicals at all. We do not irrigate our land, but rely solely on rainwater in order to help with water conservation. On our farm nature is left to develop the distinct and beautiful flavour of our oil. We know and care for each tree on our farm and give a name to every one of them. We allow nature to unfold freely on the land, encouraging wildlife and growth of native plants around the olive trees.

The Olive Oil

At L'esconditt we take pride in the Olive Oil we produce. We take particular care of the
trees, focusing on a regenerative and sustainable approach to the manufacturing process. The olives on our single-estate are hand picked during the months of October-December
depending on climatic conditions.

Manually harvesting the olives protects the trees and the ecosystem around them. Our
trees are hundreds of years old and deserve all the respect and appreciation we can show. Within hours of harvest, the olives are sorted and cold pressed at low temperatures for you
to enjoy a unique taste experience.

The Farm

The Finca L'esconditt, which name blends the Spanish and Catalan word for "Hide-out", is a small, family run farm with a strong emphasis on high quality produce in tune with nature. We are in the hills above Camarles, Spain, on the Mediterranean coast, in a special location above the Delta del Ebro, with its own microclimate. The land is on slopes once covered by the River Ebro, which provide the foundation of a nutritionally rich and healthy soil on which our trees grow, contributing to the splendid flavour of our oil.

The area is populated by many rabbits, wild boar and an array of birds. Our small farm consists of around 200 trees over an area of 30.000 m2, overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. Amongst the olive trees, grow wild herbs like Thyme and Rosemary and we have a small selection of fruit and nut trees - Apricots, Medlar, Pomegranate, Figs, Almonds and more. We don't only care for nature, but support the local community as much as possible. We employ local people, make use of the local processing facilities and, where possible, source additional products we require from the surrounding communities.
